Dear Firebird Family:

Welcome to another year of Chaparral baseball. As always, goals are high along with expectations. We aim for success on and off the field and further development of the young men in our program as baseball players and as citizens.

We also are asking for your help, not only in your positive support at games and for the major commitment your sons must make, but also financially. Unfortunately, support from the district cannot come close to providing what we need. That is even more the case today.

At the parents meeting, you were introduced (or reintroduced) to our fund-raising initiative. We are asking for full participation (at each level) of some amount - whatever is possible is highly valued. The suggested levels are as follows:

• Platinum -- $1,500
• Gold -- $1,000
• Silver -- $ 500

Again, if you cannot afford one of these levels, any contribution is important and valued. In addition to our normal operating expenses (uniforms, balls and other equipment, field supplies, coaching and player development), we have a specific project that we are trying to complete. All of you know that it is not easy to find a good place to watch a Chaparral game. To make it better, we would like to install bleachers behind home plate. The cost to do this exceeds six figures, but would make watching safer and more enjoyable. We have also recently completed extensive work on our dugouts and batting cages.

Checks should be made payable to the "Chaparral Diamondbackers", which is a 501c3 organization. Donations are fully tax deductible. Checks may be given to or mailed to our treasurer Tom Diamond at 8810 N. via La Serena Paradise Valley, AZ 85253.

I cannot make promises regarding results on the field this year (or any other year). I can only promise that we will all do our best and that your help is essential to this effort.
